Artist Book Collaboration – Nature

- Cheryl Penn
- Cheryl’s handpainted accordian book with additional poetry in her own unique style.
- Jac Balmer
- Jac’s collagraph is based on a poem written by Ryan Williams after the events in Manchester, May 2017
Martine’s theme is taken from her own garden, images printed from actual foliage.

Petru Viljoen
Similar to Martine, I used garden foliage, inked it up and printed directly, with additional frottage and glued pressed blooms and leaves over it and added several nature-based haiku.
Using beetroot juice, collage and poetry Ptrzia’s book is an edition of 12 done in her usual high standard.
Using pulp printing the image is embedded into the paper and not images added to a sheet.
Svenja’s herbarium reminds somewhat of the Voynich Manuscript even if hers isn’t as obscure!
I’m afraid to tell Kathleen Nartuhi’s book got lost – it’s too painful a tale to tell. (It wasn’t the post office’s fault this time!)
All the collaborations, hosted by Cheryl Penn can also be viewed on An Encyclopedia of Everything where other books, not part of collaborations, are also posted.
This was my last collaboration with this group I’m sad to say. Postage costs, the time and art materials it took got to be overwhelming.

Thank you for all of this, but particularly, the Voynich Manuscript! 🙂
Isn’t it just wonderful?
I thought maybe this is the first ever example of asemic writing OR Bill Shatner might just be right. 🙂
My intuition says it isn’t a hoax. Love the mystery!
What a beautiful collection.
These are amazing and inspiring! Thanks for sharing. (K)
Thanks!
What a wonderful idea, and the results are beautiful! Congratulations 🙂
Thanks Jane!
🙂
I’m in awe of this work.
🙂
these are wonderful! Such care and attention to detail!
Thanks Emily!
Thank you Petru. There are some lovely ones. Liked your pink flowers amongst the black. Very nice. Loved the leaves too.
Thanks Liz!
Thank-you for this. It is very beautiful..something about a hand crafted book …makes it like a little jewel.
I’ve a collection of about 50 from these collaborations and intend exhibiting it as soon as I can find a gallery interested in it! Hand-crafted artist books is a category of artmaking all by itself.
I wish you every success. Kudos!
