…And yet I have seen smaller birds attack larger ones when protecting nests or territory.
Nature is full of life, and a balance that humans seem unable to tune into.
I’ve seen that too. It happens with other species too. And humans are stupid!

It’s sad but not without expectation?
It’s the way of all flesh. I think suffering is minimal for prey. We’re the ones who have developed the inflicting of mass suffering as a characteristic of the species.
You’re making me wonder if I shouldn’t turn this into a haibun! There’s much unsaid. Hmmm … I’ll think about it.
Don’t turn it into a haibun—write a haibun. I like the original as a haiku.
