Unique Artist Book & Aleatory Poem
21December 2, 2015 by petrujviljoen
Imaginary Garden with Real Toads invites poetry contributions. I used aleatory poetry, lines taken from a Iris Murdoch novel that fell apart as I was reading it. I chose sentences describing the landscape and arranged it so to form a poem.
Please visit Toads to read the others’ poetry.
The words and arrangement are both beautiful
Darn Moon, blotting out that vision before I could see it. It sounded fast moving,
Poor Jay, caught in the fury.
When I compose and post a ‘spine poem, made of a stack of books, I type the words below the picture for my readers ease. I couldn’t read yours so I did, with my iPad, a screen snap pic and then stretched the picture out for me to have a large print read.
Nice composure.
Thank you for visiting and for your nice comment. Cheers,

I like to compose when I’m at the library. Keep your camera ready.

What a good idea! My librarian here (a very small town) got a bit nervous the previous time I took pics of the library, with the idea of a blog post, but I’ll tell her the reason and she’ll probably approve it.
Thank you so much for going to all that trouble to read! Good idea to retype the words for easier reading. Will edit the post for possible future readers.
The image is beautiful and the words are a little hard to read, but I got them.. it’s amazing what an element of randomness can give.. I like the how the brain is wired to try to find those little connection..
I specifically chose sets of words that appealed and arranged them, so a controlled randomness.
On favorite book to pick sentences from is Bleak House for me.. It’s a goldmine
Title sounds familiar, can’t think of the author right now, will look it up. 🙂
Charles Dickens… 🙂 and the book is on gutenberg
Thought so!! Should’ve known.
Love it! Truly wonderful. Bravo!!
Thank you!
That looks really beautiful but my old eyes can’t read the type 😦
I tried to make the pic as big as I could and checked whether it was readable but it is obviously not clear enough for everyone. Sorry.
I’ve enlarged the pic, hope it helps.
This is visually beautiful, but the type is too small for me to read it. So sorry.
Oh, I tried to make the pic as big as I could. I checked whether it was readable, but it is obviously not clear enough for everyone. Sorry.
I’ve enlarged the pic, hope it helps.
This is absolutely stunning.
Thank you!!
