Artmaking: I prefer working in oil paint. I keep a set of acrylics for sketching and for works on paper. Oil paint has a flexibility that I find lacking in acrylic. It is also a case of keeping to the medium one learnt in.
My efforts at writing is new and am still at the crawling stage. Through writing (and making art) with an audience in mind, keeps one dedicated to deliver work of quality.
I believe all artmaking stems from a wish to explore spirituality.
My reading is diverse. I think my all time favourite female authors are Doris Lessing (The Golden Notebook) Violette le Duc (La Batarde) and Margaret Atwood (The Cat’s Eye).
Male authors vary – JM Coetzee (English South African), Jean Genet (French) and Karel Schoeman (Afrikaans South African).
Otherwise my time is devoted to a cat named Charlie that drives me nuts some of the time and teaches me how to love all of the time.
