Heeding the Seasons

back from Africa
the swifts dance the endless sky
momentary joy
day’s early light
I watch the full moon setting –
bateleur flies by
a red oak leaf
in a current artwork
remnant of autumn
land still scorched from
industrial firebreaks
soil stays bone dry

Makes me think of migration and the transitional nature of spring and fall. Also makes me want to bunble up in a blanket and sip some bourbon-spiked cocoa. Lovely write.
I got myself, what we call here, a half-jack of whisky just yesterday!
The two complement each other, words buzz with life and image with texture. Reminds me of our Autumn storms. The sky darkens right before a storm arrives.
Oak leaves are one of the last to decompose… It looks like an oak leaf to me.
I had to clear some this morning from neighborhood drains.
Had a bit of a storm with winds enough to knock a dead branch out of my willow tree.
Each day as seasons change – a unique canvas to study 🙂
Yes. I love each season for what it has to offer.
I love the image and I enjoyed your portrait of season’s change, and first I read it my way, fall coming, and then the way you meant it, spring coming. I think it works all the year around. What a way with words you have.
Thank you Claudia!! The first two could be read as any season, I think I realise. It’s only if one knows it is possible to sit on the front steps at the crack of dawn that it is summer here now. This part of the country has Spring only for about two weeks then the sun comes blazing down.
This year our summer was mostly rain. And gray. Not the usual one. Now we are going into fall and I think it’s our best season.
It is a cropped image of a larger work which I posted before. I rather like the composition too and future artworks may become not so complicated.
love this so much and perfectly captures the feelings of the changing seasons
Thank you!
You can delete that comment! For some reason the page did not load the first time. I can see it just fine now.

Thanks! I’ll delete the previous one.
