A Rondel

The beacon, there! Beyond the land!
But here the sparkle increases
and dances in the fold of the breezes
as the company gathers on the sand.

Is that a wave? A beckoning hand?
the algae broiling in the rolling brine?
The beacon, there! Beyond the land!
There. Right there! The horison line.

a shimmer detaches, reaches the band
enters the ever ending cycle
the brine’s become tabernacle
a glimmer of music – a mere strand
the beckoning, there beyond the land!

I’m participating in a poetry MOOC through Future Learn.

  1. I like this. It has the roll of the sea in it.

  2. I love the poem. I’ll be interested to hear what you think of the course and what you got from it.

    • Thanks. High time I learn form poetry! I’ll make notes as I go along and will post.

      • Oh good, I am interested in how you will like being a student, and what you think of the role, because I think you are very proficient now and inspired. What you feel that instruction in formal terms will bring to you, when you are finished with the class, that is what I will be interested to hear.

        • Thanks for thinking I’m proficient! Your points of interest will add a focus I haven’t thought of! I’ll be back … with notes!
