Storied Bird

The timbre of the cat’s
mewling had me drop
everything.

It’s the same – holding
a small bird, holding a seedling.

The day’s warmth lingers
in the depths while
night’s shadow announces
itself – mine stretching

herb bed mulched, watered;
whirr of wing – bird’s
freed flight.

    The seedling and the tiny bird are both so vulnerable…wonderful comparison. I like the contrast of “the days warmth” and “night’s shadow”, almost an ominous tone as darkness sets in. Hope has wings in the end! Yes!

    I love your comparison of holding a bird or a seedling as being the same…yes, with that same delicacy to keep them both unharmed. So glad bird could go on his way. A beautiful poem, Petru.

    It seems like the bird was unhurt. I like the idea of the night announcing itself by the stretching shadows.

  12. A beautiful moment in time, the enchantment of evening in one’s garden. That’s my favorite time to garden. Glad the bird made it!
