There is something insouciant in this bit of writing!
Looked up insouciant and yes, care free it is: Gardening does that for one! Off to cover the strawberry patch with mesh wire to protect it from the monkeys!
I also like this word for the connotations it has of slightly sassy. I think of gardening as meeting lots of personalities, plat wise, and this poem reminded me of bright tones and faces. Love your comment about monkeys. Here I would say , cover the sunflower seeds with mesh to protect them from the birds, or fence to keep out the deer…
Indeed my thoughts went to sassy-like stuff at first. I think it’s the sound of the word. The fence for the deer and cattle for that matter, thankfully already stands. The birds can have the sunflower seeds, I grow them just for pretty anyway. I thought the other day there’s a limit to what one’d need to do to keep one’s food. Next thing I’m going to get a catapult and pelt the monkeys and baboons and hope it helps. Lost a whole loaf of bread to one of the little &*^%’s the other day. Happened to have a daisy-grubber in my hand & it got chucked at the monkey from sheer rage and frustration. Thankful to report it was a complete miss.
I love the catapult idea. I bet you could get good at it with practice.
