Etheree for Dverse

“It has been said, ‘time heals all wounds’. I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.”

Hidden Woman

Man

I’m sick

of breathing

so you can live

my life incarnate

of your bodied needs

my submission mandated

by right of patriarchal creed

my righteous outrage viciously crushed.

Shamed, I scratch among the ruins for me.

I’m a man, and I’m sick of it too. This is a powerful, sad social commentary on how things are, unfortunately. Well-written, and felt.

    • The support to this write has been overwhelming. I express my thanks. As I mentioned in another comment – raising awareness through Feminism has made serious inroads but there is still very much to do.

  4. Anna :o] says:

A brilliant write. By the third read I had become intensely sad, so sad for those whose lives are captured in your words

    • Yes, it is unfortunately still very true for a great very many women all over the world. The figures of women dying and being abused resembles the statistics of a full scale war. Today, as we speak.

  5. Mish says:

Riveting. Sadly, this could be the voice of so many women living in secret turmoil.

    • Thousands and thousands and tens thousands of women. We still need to learn to speak out albeit with fear of reprisal, even in first world countries.

  6. Sanaa Rizvi says:

Such a riveting read 🙂 Kudos

  7. Yep, those opening lines grabbed me – I had to read on! Love the darkness – it’s what i do.

    • Wouldn’t admit to ‘loving’ the darkness but it’s there so one deals with it as best one can. Thanks for the visit and comment! Appreciated!

  8. Rosemary Nissen-Wade says:

    A striking conclusion.

  9. Imelda says:

This is intense. It has that revolutionary feel to it. 🙂

  10. whimsygizmo says:

    This leaves ME breathless:
    “Man

    I’m sick

    of breathing

    so you can live”

    Fantastic.

  11. Grace says:

I felt the deep despair and sadness ~

  12. Such a strong message delivered… it’s a shame how the world can be.

  13. A pointed and aching piece, Petru. But so real, much to ponder here!

  14. Mary says:

    An intensely evocative etheree!

  15. Oh, ouch. You used the form to paint a painful picture–a reality for so many. That last line is potent.
