The haiku were gleaned from a novel by Iris Murdoch – the second-hand book fell apart in my hands as I read. I cut words, some sets of words that I liked and put them together differently.
There is a scene in the novel where Anne Cavidge, the nun in Nuns and Soldiers, finds Jesus himself in her kitchen – a vision she had. And after this she goes chasing after a boyfriend! Doesn’t make sense.
Poems in order of images read as follows:
point in empty space
the void gleamed – turning silver
laughing into the deep earth
water veiled the rock
a sacred self-awareness
with new innocence
