Saartjie Baartman & Marilyn Monroe – A Comparison

I haven’t posted for a while due to lack of internet access.

I am taking part in another collaboration of artists’ books on the site artistbooks.ning.com, hosted by Cheryl Penn. The theme was ‘someone’. An autobiography, biography or fictional character. I’ve been thinking about the life experiences of Saartjie Baartman and Marilyn Monroe for some time. They lived in different worlds and different times. Yet the road they chose to escape their backgrounds, to become someone, make something of themselves, holds many similarities.

I hope the internet connection holds so I can follow up on comments and feedback.
