Friday Fictioneers is a group of writers from all over the world that gather to play with words in this forum. This is kindly, thoughtfully, hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. Click on her link to find out the how-to of this. It’s one of the best ways of having intellectual fun you’ll encounter. Join us. If you dare.

I shall get on my bicycle and travel in ever-expanding circles until I find the exit to this labyrinth my thoughts can’t get out of. I shall keep going until I’ve lost all sense of cultural, societal, political, economic, religious programming, so critically instilled. The rhythmic work of pedalling will erase all sense of what I’ve ever been. I shall leave this place of noise and man-made structure of expectant achievement. I shall …
”Hey, Iris! Come and have some coffee!”
Oh. Oh, look, it’s Ariel!
-
Involuntarily she veered off, tied up the wheels, ordered coffee.
Nice twist – now off you go 🙂
Shall. Did I mean.
I follow your site. Thanks for dropping by here.
sigh.. perhaps next time, then. i wish her luck 🙂
Coffee just plain old trumps everything! Nicely done.
Thanks for stopping by.
Distraction comes far too easy, doesn’t it. A good tale.
Thanks for stopping by!
This leaves me kind of sad, in a good, thought-provoking way. Well done.
Good. Thanks for stopping by.
And so easily greatness can be diverted 🙂 great story
Thanks.
The bike is great for dreaming. And maybe one day for making the dreams come true. And better to dream than not to dream. And good to share a drink with Ariel or whoever.
Oh, yes, it doesn’t take much persuasion for us to ‘get off our bikes’. I like the idea of the bike as a sort of whirling dervish on wheels! Ann
Indeed. Thanks for stopping by.
Funny how our resolve weakens for good company and good coffee. Nice one!
Indeed. Thanks for stopping by.
Oh, I’ve been there quite often, and you described the feeling to perfection!
Habits are hard to break.
Good story. How easily we are influenced by social interactions. Ron
This is great 🙂
Dear Petru,
Have to have my coffee in the morning. The meditation can be put on hold. Nice one.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Same routine here. Just can’t wake up without it.
I can always put meditation on hold for a strong coffee.
🙂
She can get back to her dreams a/o meditation again. Sounds a bit like when you twirl around and around until you get so dizzy you fall over. I like your idea although I must admit I was thinking what a hazard she would be to those more literal souls walking/biking/driving in her vicinity. 🙂

Thanks for reading.
Sometimes we have to embrace unconventional means to accomplish mental peace. Riding in ever larger circles could be the best way.
Indeed. Thanks for reading.
Most of the time we do what we have to do, dreaming of what we’d most like to do. C’est la vie…
Isn’t it?
I hope the coffee helps concentration, although that has never worked for me.
I love my coffee. In moderation. Whether it helps travelling by bicycle is another matter. Thanks for stopping by.
It’s a coffee break… but I have to wonder if, at some point, she’ll return to her original mission, of meditating on the bike. I think that sounds like a neat idea.
It is a neat idea. I’ll see if I can get her back on her travels.
We are sometimes the best at thwarting our own plans!
Indeed. From stupid habit.
