Wu Wei – Prompt for the Promptless

March 16, 2013 by petrujviljoen

This is my contribution to Rarasaur’s Prompts for the Promptless: Wu Wei.

Merely Flower - copyright Petru Viljoen

Merely flower,

in the coolness of night, dew

– bejewelled bloom

Lao Tzu, translated by R Blakney

I think this translation of one of Lao Tzu’s writings, by RB Blakney, is a good description of what Wu Wei is about.

Thank you! This pansy grows in my garden and I was lucky enough to see it like that. Quite amazing. Neither the flower nor the dew tried to do what they did, it just worked out that way. Wu Wei, eh?
